In light of Girls in Aviation Day Luxaviation UK interviews marketing manager – Sarah Wightwick

Sarah Wightwick is the Marketing Manager Europe for Luxaviation.

What sparked your interest in Aviation?
After graduating from the University of Hertfordshire, I was presented with my first marketing opportunity within the construction industry. I knew for my next role I wanted to get into the luxury travel sector. A few years later I was contacted about a marketing position at London Executive Aviation, now known as Luxaviation United Kingdom. This was an exciting opportunity that led on to my passion for aviation, in particular private aviation.

What advice would you give young women considering a career in aviation?
An aviation marketing role is different every single day, so you need to be ready to take on new challenges and be confident in your execution. Take every opportunity that arises to travel, learn about new cultures and target audiences.

In your role at Luxaviation UK, what are you most passionate about?
I’ve always felt passionately about aviation and I absolutely love being a part of such an exciting industry. Something I feel particularly passionate about is the work we do to raise awareness and donations for charity. In previous years we have run a ‘Flypink’ campaign for Breast Cancer Now, where all our crew wear pink epaulettes and scarves on wear it pink day. This year we have been working with ‘Flypink’ on a month-long campaign across the Luxaviation Group, which started on Monday 15th October, to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Now and Movember. This is a global campaign which we are proud to be taking part in. Keep watching our social media channels to see us #flypink!

What do you like about working for Luxaviation UK?
We have a great team at Luxaviation UK, and it really is a team! When I’m working on a marketing campaign and need input from my colleagues they are always more than willing to help and get involved, making it a pleasure to do my job and that little bit extra special when we all see the results. Luxaviation UK has given me new opportunities to learn and progress in my career, making me feel truly valued.

What are your day-to-day responsibilities at Luxaviation UK?
As a marketing manager my responsibilities involve organising events and exhibitions, advertising campaigns, e-marketing, content marketing, corporate identity, CRM, website and intranet maintenance, social media platforms and media relations.
