Saturday 24th September marks Girls in Aviation Day, an inspiring opportunity to encourage more young women to get involved in all aspects of the aviation industry – whether that’s in the cockpit, the ops room, or flight services – and we are delighted to celebrate this occasion with you!
Girls in Aviation Day – #GIAD16 – is led by Women in Aviation International, and its initiatives promise to be filled with passion, exploration, learning and excitement. Various institutions around the world will be putting on events, seminars and conferences in a bid to inspire the next generation of aviators.
Our very own Danni Stoney (WAI member) was inspired to pursue a career in aviation when her parents bought her a flying lesson for her 15th birthday. Two years later she was a qualified pilot! You can watch a video interview with Danni here and read more about her experiences in training as a pilot in a BlueSky ‘Day in the Life’ feature about Danni here from Wednesday.
Be sure to follow us on social media as we celebrate women in aviation over the next fortnight. We will be posting profiles of key aviation figures throughout history and looking a little closer to home by introducing you to some of our LEA team members.
