LEA’s Danielle Stoney Promoted to Captain
London, 2 November 2016: London Executive Aviation (LEA), the UK’s largest private aviation operator, is announcing the promotion of one of its female pilots, Danielle Stoney, to the rank of Captain.
Stoney will be in command of an Embraer Phenom 300, building on her experience as First Officer on the same aircraft prior to that. Upon her promotion, Stoney says: “It is a major honour to be promoted to Captain, as it is recognition of all the hard work and dedication that being a pilot requires. I would love for my promotion to inspire more women to pursue a career in aviation, as with the right mentality and drive, anything is possible.”
Danni was inspired to get into aviation aged 15, when she had her first flying lesson. Two years later, she received her Private Pilot’s License, making her the youngest pilot in Ireland and the second youngest female pilot in Great Britain. She has received a Student Pilot of the Year award and the Royal Airforce Flying Excellence Award.
George Galanopoulos, managing director, LEA, says: “Since joining LEA, Danni has been an integral part of the crew. It is with great pleasure that she has made Captain, allowing her to incorporate her existing skills with the increased responsibility and awareness that comes with the new role.”
