RAF100 Flypast launch from Stapleford Aerodrome
On 10th July the RAF celebrated one hundred days after their official 100th birthday with a parade and flypast over Buckingham Palace.
Up to 100 aircraft were included in the celebrations and over a thousand servicemen and women. Some of the aircraft taking part featured the famous Dakota, Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire – well known from the Battle of Britain.
Luxaviation UK’s offices are based just outside London at Stapleford Aerodrome and we were lucky enough to witness some of the impressive helicopters departing for the display.
The aerodrome is predominantly used for light aircraft flight training movements so this was an unusual visit and quite a treat for the staff at the office! The formation continued over the M25, Hainault Forest and onto central London.
Her Majesty The Queen also presented a new Queen’s colour to the Royal Air Force at the ceremony to mark its centenary.
